Oh Christmas Quilts, Oh Christmas Quilts

We love celebrating the holidays here at Maywood Studio and this year is no exception. Last week we took out some of our favorite Christmas quilts and projects for an impromptu photoshoot. Some are new designs for collections that will be delivered to shops next spring, and some are classics that we haven't seen in a while.

In the spirit of the season of giving, we decided to bring back the pattern for the Woven Wreaths quilt. Read on to hear the story behind the design and get the link for the free pattern.

The Woven Wreaths quilt was a popular design when it first came out back in 2020. It was offered as a kit with the Glad Tidings Collection, and the instructions were available for free. We spoke with the Maywood Studio marketing manager, Michelle, about the inspiration behind her original design.

"There is a beautiful display of wreaths hanging on a fence at the tree farm where we get our family Christmas tree every year," she shared. "I knew that I wanted to design a quilt that captured the beauty of those wreaths at night. I started playing with how to create a design that looked like ribbons woven through festive wreaths. It was also an opportunity to showcase all the beautiful green fabrics in the Glad Tidings collection."

Since the Glad Tidings collection has been out of print for a while, this is an opportunity to use your new favorite Christmas prints, like the Christmas Night collection by Monique Jacobs or Kimberbell Basics.
